SPORTS FOR ALL - CYPRUS

The Cyprus Sport Organisation and specifically its National Sport For All Program, participate as partner in the Euro Sport Health Project.
The Euro Sport Health Project is one of the nine projects approved by the European Commission in the health area.
The project’s main goal is to identify and exchange best practices for the health promotion through the sport for all at local level.

Specifically the project targets:

  • To promote the health benefits of the sport practise and physical activity.
  • To encourage the participation of citizens in sport as a regular activity.
  • To disseminate the values of the sport as a part of an active life style and its benefits for people’s health.
  • To create a network of territories in order to identify and exchange best practises.
  • To implement the Sport Day in the participating territories.

EURO SPORT HEALTH Project’s duration is between December 15th 2009 until March 15th 2011, and it is realized with the cooperation of six different entities from the five states - members of European Union, which come from different areas of local government, sport area, health area, and university.

The project has been organized in five work packages:

  • Definition of best practices methodology for the health promotion through the sport for all at local level
  • Identification and collection of good practices 
  • Organization of awareness actions 
  • Sustainability of the project 
  • Management, coordination and evaluation of the project
